The city of Namur is one hour drive south-east of Brussels.

It is the administrative main city of Walonnie , the french speaking part of Belgium.

Belgium is a country of 11.000.000 inhabitants and is known for his conviviality and his sense of  hospitality.

Walonnie is the less populated part of the country.

14:00 Visit of the Abbey of Maredsous, one of the most beautiful in Belgium, with a tasting of the beer and cheese from the Abbey. The Abbey was founded in the 19th century. The Maredsous monastery has a much more important past (more than 1,000 years). Maredsous is a place of relaxation and meditation and perpetuate the traditional hospitality of the Benedictine Monks in an exceptional natural setting.

10:00  discovery of one of the rare vineyard in Belgium with her owner followed with a wine tasting.

A couple of years ago Jeanette and her husband came near Namur to start a vineyard in the Meuse valley near Profondeville. From “good” they want to go to “terrific”, from “tasteful” to “culinary” and from “acceptable” to “spirited” and “characteristic”.

Jeanette will explain how they proceed to have a marvelous wine.

Jeanette will let you taste their entire production of wines.

13:00 Navigation + lunch until the Castle of Freyr, along the river.

The former summerhouse of the Duke de Beaufort-Spontin, the castle of  Freyr welcomes you into its harmonious premises which were furnished by the 20 generations who have been living here. They invite you to meet history (royal guests, coffee treaty) in its wonderful surroundings . The walled terraced gardens, in the style of Lenotre present their splendors and intimacy. The babblings of the fountains, the perfume of the 300 years old orange trees will seduce both younger and older visitors.

Caves of Han.

13:00 Return on the barge for the breakfast and navigation until Fumay. You will navigate through a 565 meters long underground canal.

10:00 A marvelous navigation in the nature until Monthermé. Possibility to walk or bike in a splendid environment.

17:00 Arrival in Monthermé, visit of the church Saint Leger.

It is a roman church. The beginning of the construction date of the 12th century.

It has been damaged and rebuild in 1452.

You can still admire different interesting wall paintings

16:00 visit of the war museums. It is a rich museum to understand the famous battle of the Ardennes. Bastogne is an encouraging victory; the one of the resistance to the unexpected assault of  the Germans
